It may have been too good to be true after all.

Rumors claiming Kate Middleton is pregnant -- spread by her "friend" Jessica Hay -- have been put to rest by Kensington Palace, ET Canada reported Thursday. The channel reached out to a palace spokesperson who said Middleton, 32, and Hay actually do not associate with one another, though there was no mention of the pregnancy claims.

“The duchess has not spoken to Jessica Hay for very many years,” the spokesperson told ET Canada. “She is not in contact with her at all.”

Vanity Fair said Middleton blocked Hay on Twitter and “put her on 'limited profile' on Facebook.”

Last week, Hay told Australia’s New Day that Middleton and Prince William are expecting their second child.

“Kate’s inner circle is buzzing with the news that she is expecting,” Hay told The Hollywood Gossip. “I’ve heard from several different friends of theirs now that they’re saying that they think there’s going to be an official announcement in weeks.”

Hay is the friend who famously predicted Middleton’s first pregnancy in November 2012 just weeks before the official announcement.

“Kate’s face is fuller like it was when she was first expecting George,” Hay said. “Whenever she’s out in public she goes to great lengths to hold something over her tummy.”

Hay is not the only source claiming to know of Middleton’s alleged pregnancy. Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Kate Nicholl penned a cover story for the magazine’s August 2014 issue claiming the duke and duchess were trying for a second child.

“As for speculation about when Prince George will have a sibling … there are rumors among the couple’s friends that they plan to try this summer,” she wrote.

In Touch Weekly, for its part, reported that Middleton is pregnant but is suffering from anorexia. A "fitness expert" told the magazine the duchess currently weighs just 91 pounds. The report went on to say Middleton’s weight loss is a “deteriorating condition” and is hurting herself and her baby.

The royal couple will celebrate Prince George’s first birthday next Tuesday.
