As early as now, Kawhi Leonard is expected to re-sign with the Toronto Raptors in the hopes to repeat what the team has accomplished this season.

The whole world is Kawhi’s witness as he consistently lifts the Raptors every single game. The young star led the team to the finals and managed to steal a win against the defending champs Golden State Warriors in Game 1. But as early as now, news of Kawhi re-signing with the Raptors has already become a hot topic in the news.

According to The Bleacher Report, the 2014 Finals MVP has provided a hint that he is likely to give his current team Raptors one more chance and play for them again next season. Sources also quoted that Kawhi is believed to keep an ‘open mind’ towards entering a contract with the Raptors next season.

But the said re-signing idea does not end there. Rumors of Kawhi moving to Los Angeles are also starting to spread along with it.

Kawhi and the Lakers was once NBA’s primary subject in the past, especially during the time when Kawhi’s relationship with his former team San Antonio Spurs went sideways.

If there is one team that the 27-year-old superstar is very open to deal with, that would be the Lakers. In the past, Kawhi has already expressed his apparent desire to play for the Purple and Gold and at some point, the Lakers also was reported very interested in acquiring Leonard but none of them materialized.

Considering the rumor is true, it will appear as if the Raptors only rented the services and impact of Kawhi for a short period of time.

With this rumor swirling around, the Raptors at this point, may be somewhat familiar with this scenario due to the fact that Kawhi intentionally or unintentionally, already have been in this kind of situation before.

During the time the Spurs traded Kawhi to the Raptors, the star was widely considered as a one-year rental for the 2018-19 season, Lakers Nation noted. Until then, Kawhi and the Raptors still have a championship to win as they are up 1-0 against the Warriors.

Kawhi has been impressive defensively and managed to limit the Warriors’ offense during their first meeting. Pascal Siakam delivered in his NBA finals debut as well as Marc Gasol. Toronto just had its second best-shooting game of this postseason with its whopping 59.1 percent field goal percentage.
