As Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors mutually savor the franchise's success this season, the young superstar's uncle revealed the reason why Leonard left the Spurs.

Before the season started, many believed that Kawhi should have chosen a different team instead of Toronto. Now that the team has made it to the NBA Finals, it seems that Kawhi really fits well with the Raptors.

But the thing that remains uncertain after Kawhi finally gave the Raptors a nod is the reason why he left the Spurs in the first place.

It has been known in the past that Kawhi and the Spurs were already having a conflict which resulted to 2014 Finals MVP's decision to part ways with the team.

Days before the much awaited 2019 NBA Finals, a cold case has been reopened after Kawhi's uncle, Dennis Robertson, gave a vital statement pertaining to the reason why Kawhi left the Spurs based on the standpoint of the 27-year-old superstar.

“I think it just became a lack of trust,” Uncle Dennis said. “They didn’t believe Kawhi couldn’t play and that caused a lack of trust in us and then us not believing in them. Any time a player says he’s not capable of playing, you should believe him. Why would Kawhi just stop playing all of a sudden? He’s a competitor."

"Sometimes you get these team doctors telling you what you can and cannot do, and Kawhi was just in too much pain to get out there. This was a serious issue. They didn’t believe him, and after that, the relationship couldn’t recover and we decided we had to move on,” he continued, as reported by The New York Post.

Despite all the hype and drama it brought to the media, Kawhi has kept his mouth closed and did not provide even hints of how he really felt about the issue. Apparently, Kawhi has let his Uncle Dennis be the one to address all these issues, according Laker Nation.

After all, Leonard has been very successful with the Raptors, and he continues to impress basketball fans with his both offesive and defensive skills.

The Raptors are set to face the Warriors on May 31 at Toronto for Game 1 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
