A potential super team of LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis could form with the Los Angeles Lakers next season, according to former NBA player Jarrett Jack.

James moved to the Lakers earlier this summer and is expected to be joined by a high-profile free agent next season. Durant of the Golden State Warriors is one such star who can become a free agent next year and is heavily linked with a move to the Staples Center.

But it won't just be Durant joining James in Los Angeles next season, but New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis as well, according to Jack.

While Jack's tweets should be taken with a pinch of salt, it's worth noting that the former Portland Trail Blazers point guard is known for having a wide influence with NBA stars, so it's possible he knows something. But can such a scenario happen?

Durant has a player option for the 2018/19 season and as per reports and speculation, is almost guaranteed to become an unrestricted free agent. The only question is whether he will re-sign with the Warriors or look for a new challenge elsewhere in Los Angeles or in New York with the Knicks.

The Lakers are said to have the cap space to sign Durant to a max contract next season, while NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson reported in September that the 30-year-old would be joining them next summer.

As for Davis, he still has two years with $52 million left on his Pelicans deal along with a $29 million player option for the 2020/21 NBA season, so he can't join in free agency at least in the near future.

However, it is expected that he will ask for a trade away from New Orleans if they are not doing well in the playoff picture before the February trade deadline. The Lakers are also linked with him, particularly after Davis recently left his agent to join Klutch Sports, who notably represent James.

A potential trade for Davis, who many regard as a top-three player in the league, won't be cheap however, and could involve the Lakers parting ways with as many as three of their young prospects.

"That's what makes this a growth year for the Lakers' young three as I'm calling them — Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram," Jalen Rose said of a potential trade for Davis. "I think in order to try to get Anthony Davis in Los Angeles, it may cost you two or three of those players but obviously he's [Davis] established himself as one of the top in the game."

If Durant and Davis do join James, however, it's almost undeniable that they have a team capable of ending the dominance of the Warriors, who look likely to complete a threepeat this season.

Some may even peg the Lakers as bigger favorites over a Durant-less Warriors team for next season.
