“Killing Eve” ended on a quieter note this year with the Season 3 finale finding both women on Tower Bridge in London. They understand that they’re toxic together, and they start to walk in opposite directions. However, they both stop and turn back. That leaves viewers wondering what’s coming up in Season 4.

BBC America and AMC have already renewed the drama, and it sounds like both women are going to be experiencing some big shifts. Viewers saw this season as Villanelle (Jodie Comer) started to question why she has to kill people and Eve (Sandra Oh) willingly inflicting pain on Dasha (Harriet Walter).

“Villanelle has taken [Eve] to a very, very dark place, but it’s also awoken something in her that she cherishes, I think,” executive producer Suzanne Heathcote told TVLine. “What does that look like, if she allows it free rein? I think that’s an interesting aspect to look at. Because she’s kept stuffing it down. … Eve has acknowledged to Villanelle that they both contributed to the death of Dasha, and that means that she’s been complicit in quite a few peoples’ deaths. What has her exposure to Villanelle given her? It clearly makes her feel alive. That thrill is still there.”

Executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle gave a similar hint towards Season 4’s arc when she told Entertainment Weekly the question audiences should be mulling over during hiatus. “What do you do when you have to acknowledge to yourself that there's a darkness that you can't push down anymore? And that's very much an Eve thing,” she said.

She also gave the tiniest tease for next year, stating, “Change is possible.” Is it Eve who will change and become more deadly? Or will Villanelle become a hero? Will they meet each other in some gray middle area? Fans will have to wait and see.

“Killing Eve” Season 4 is currently being written. As of right now, the writers expect to film and air the new episodes sometime in 2021. Laura Neal will take over as showrunner.
