King Charles Wants Prince Harry At His Coronation Despite 'Spare' Drama: Report

King Charles III wants both of his sons to be by his side at his upcoming coronation, according to reports.

King Charles, who automatically succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth II as monarch when she died in September 2022, is set to be crowned alongside his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6.

Royal fans and observers have wondered whether the fallout from Prince Harry's bombshell memoir "Spare" would result in the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle not getting invited to his father's coronation.

But sources close to the royal family told Entertainment Tonight and People that King Charles wants his younger son to be present during the occasion despite the tension.

"Of course, Charles wants his son at the coronation. It is a pivotal moment in his life. He loves both his sons and wants Prince Harry there," ET quoted one unnamed insider as saying.

The King reportedly wants to reconcile with his younger son and "mend" the rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.

"King Charles wants to mend the relationship within the family. They will be invited. It would look terrible if they were not," the insider added.

People also quoted an unnamed source close to the royal household as saying that King Charles would want Prince Harry to witness "such a momentous occasion" for the monarch.

"He would like to have Harry back in the family," the source added. "If they don't sort it out, it will always be part of the King's reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue."

Royal historian Robert Lacey also believed that King Charles is likely to extend Prince Harry an invitation to his coronation.

The royal expert told People that aside from the King's "paternal hope" to reconcile with his son, one of the royal family's duties is "showing how to cope with the problems we all have in a human and thoughtful way."

"What will be a success for the family in the future is not reconciliation necessarily, but mutual acceptance of different ideas and priorities," Lacey added.

Prince Harry's biographer Angela Levin shared similar remarks during a recent interview with Us Weekly. According to the "Harry: A Biography of a Prince" author, King Charles isn't giving up on his son.

"He loves Harry. He might not like what he's doing, but he loves him and there's a weakness there for him. He doesn't want to lose him as a son," Levin said.

The royal family has not publicly commented on the allegations from Prince Harry's book.
