  • Fans demanded a fourth installment after the two did not officially get back together at the end of "Kissing Booth 3"

"Kissing Booth 3" was released worldwide Wednesday, revealing how the love story between Joey King's Elle and Jacob Elordi's Noah ended. However, some fans aren't satisfied with how the third installment in the Netflix franchise ended.

Warning, spoilers ahead for "The Kissing Booth 3's" ending.

"Kissing Booth 3" ended with a time jump, where a potential renewed romance is teased between Elle, who works as a video game designer, and Noah, who's busy fielding offers for law firms in New York and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, after their high school breakup, Lee (Joel Courtney) and Rachel (Meganne Young) are back together and engaged.

When they meet again several years after their split, Noah asks Elle if she would be open to going on a bike ride with him when he's in town again, according to Decider.

"Sure, yeah, if you've got time," Elle says, to which Noah replies, "I've got time."

Elle watches him walk away, and Noah looks back and sees her looking at him. The final scene of the movie showed them riding bikes down the road and reaching toward each other.

Fans who had been hoping to see Elle and Noah officially getting back together before the film ended quickly took to social media with demands for a fourth installment.

"Badly needed 'The Kissing Booth 4' because of that ending!!" one fan tweeted.

"Petition for part 4 of 'The Kissing Booth'!!!" another wrote with crying emoji.

"We deserve 'The Kissing Booth 4' please!!!!!!!" a third Twitter user added.

"The 'Kissing Booth 3' just ended like that?! My heart is screaming for a part 4!!!!!" another netizen wrote.

However, fans may never get the ending they want. Netflix called "The Kissing Booth 3" the "final" movie in the franchise in its official press materials, according to Cosmopolitan.

The outlet also noted that ending the series with "Kissing Booth 3" made sense because it was based on author Beth Reekles' novel trilogy. The third book, titled "The Kissing Booth 3: One Last Time," suggested that it is indeed the end.

The cast members of the film had also confirmed that the third installment was the last "Kissing Booth" movie they were doing.

"This is really the last kiss," Elordi told Vanity Fair.

King suggested the same when she shared on Instagram her first and last photo at the kissing booth shortly after the "Kissing Booth 3" premiered.

"My first time at the booth, and my last time. 5 years apart," King wrote. "Thank you Elle, I’ve loved being you. And thank you to everyone who had a hand in making these movies what they are. 'The Kissing Booth 3' is now streaming on Netflix. The end of an era, excuse me while I go sob in a corner somewhere."
