Korean actress Oh In Hye passed away at the age of 36 on Monday, Sept. 14, shocking fans and supporters from around the globe.

A police source told South Korean outlet MK Sports that they are still investigating the cause of her death, but they did not rule out the possibility of the actress taking her own life.

“We suspect that she was attempting suicide. We have not yet investigated those involved, so we do not have any details,” the source said.

According to the source, Oh’s friend had called the police after failing to get in touch with her.

The "King's Doctor" actress was found in a state of cardiac arrest at her home in Incheon, South Korea, on Monday. As she was rushed to a health facility, Oh’s breathing and pulse returned after she was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

However, the Korean actress did not regain consciousness and later passed away at a hospital.

Oh's funeral service will be held at Inha University Hospital in Incheon, Korea JoongAng Daily reported. She will be laid to rest on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Oh made her movie debut in 2011 in “Sin of a Family,” which also stars Kim So Hyun and Lee Ki Woo. She also appeared in the films “Red Vacance Black Wedding,” “Janus: Two Faces of Desire” and “The Plan.”

In August, Oh made an appearance on the YouTube channel “Geunhwang Olympics” (translated), where forgotten celebrities or people who created a buzz in the media talk about what they’ve been up to.

“I hate meeting people and contacting my parents was difficult,” she said at the time. “I have passed the climax of the depressing period.”

Following news of her passing, fans and netizens took to social media to pay tribute to Oh and send their condolences to her family. Others, meanwhile, took the opportunity to shed light on the rising number of suicide cases among Korean celebrities.

“Another #southkorean actress took her life.. When its going to stop I wonder? #OhInHye It is so sad...” one Twitter user said.

“May she Rest In Peace. This world is a horrible place to be. Hopefully she is resting and happy now,” another user wrote.

“Korea must do something asap to protect their celebrities. Mental health is so important and it seems like they just don't care about it at all,” a concerned social media user explained.

Prior to her demise, Oh filmed a skincare video on YouTube and updated her fans on Instagram by uploading a selfie. Her latest post on the photo-sharing site, however, had some fans wondering if she had hinted at taking her own life.

“Bye. Go well. Sobs,” Oh captioned a photo of a white vehicle.
