Lady Gaga and Christian Carino have officially ended their engagement. The couple broke up just a day after the singer got a new tattoo that’s believed to be inspired by her “A Star Is Born” leading man, Bradley Cooper.

On Tuesday, Gaga’s rep confirmed to Just Jared that she and her talent manager boyfriend are no longer together, ending rumors from days prior that they might have called off their engagement.

Gaga first fuelled split rumors when she attended the 2019 Grammy Awards on Feb. 10 sans Carino. At the event, Mother Monster was also visibly missing her pink engagement ring. But that wasn’t the first time Gaga stepped out without her promise band.

When she performed “Shallow” with Cooper for her “Enigma” residency in Las Vegas late last month, Gaga also ditched the ring that Carino gave to her when he asked for her hand in marriage, as pointed out by Us Weekly.

Surprisingly, the “Bad Romance” hitmaker showed up at the Oscar nominees luncheon on Feb. 4 with her head-turning sparkler. Amid the swirling breakup rumors, the two never addressed anything until this week.

The confirmation that the two have chosen to part ways comes a day after Lady Gaga got some musical notes tattooed on her arm. The ink has sparked speculations from fans that she could have gotten it to pay tribute to Cooper, who did not only star in the successful movie but also directed it.

One fan named Ezra May took to Twitter to point out that while the notes in Gaga’s tattoo spell G-A-G-A in the treble clef, it is read as B-C-B-C in the bass clef. She then said that Gaga and Cooper “really complete each other.”

There have been rumors that Gaga and Cooper might have developed feelings for each other while filming and promoting their movie. However, back when the rumors were circulating, Gaga was still with Carino. And even if she is no longer with him, Cooper is already taken.

Cooper is in a romantic relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk, who is also the mother of his daughter, Lea. The couple even showed up at the BAFTAs 2019 together earlier this month in matching black outfits.

Cooper and Shayk have been pretty private about their romance. In an interview with Glamour UK, the model said it’s her personal decision to keep her family life away from the public eye because she’s already working in a very public industry.
