Lady Gaga may be taking the Oscar stage at any moment to perform “Til It Happens To You,” but she took time out from the 88th Academy Awards to post a powerful message directed toward fiancé Taylor Kinney.

“Til It Happens To You,” a song Gaga wrote with Diane Warren, is from “The Hunting Ground,” a documentary about rape on college campuses. The song and movie hit close to home for Gaga, 29, who revealed in 2014 that she was raped at age 19.

“I never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like I was ruined by my abuser,” she captioned a photo of her and Kinney from behind-the-scenes at the Oscars. “But he loves the survivor in me. He stood by me all night proud and unashamedly. THAT’S a real man.”

Gaga and Kinney, 34, got engaged on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2014. Although the two have yet to set a date, Gaga made sure to show off her heart-shaped engagement ring in an Instagram photo from the Weinstein Company’s pre-Oscar party Saturday night at the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
