Though LeBron James didn't win a championship ring this year after his team, the Miami Heat, lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, he still has a major reason to smile: The 29-year-old NBA star and his wife, Savannah Brinson, are expecting their first daughter.

Miami Heat President Pat Riley confirmed the news in an interview with the press on Thursday.

“Savannah now is going to have a little baby girl to join her in the fight against the two boys and LeBron, which she needs,” he said.

Brinson was rumored to be pregnant since last month. She and her husband have two sons, Bryce and LeBron Jr.

The NBA star's wife has reportedly been showing off her baby bump in recent weeks, and she further fueled rumors after posting the following on Facebook in March: “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”

A friend of Brinson's recently told the New York Post’s Page Six that Brinson has “always wanted a little princess,” but a Heat rep at the time said she “is not pregnant.”

In September, James married his high school sweetheart at the Grand Del Mar hotel in San Diego in front of 200 guests.

The couple's longtime friends Jay Z and Beyonce were in attendance, and Beyoncé reportedly performed, as did singer Ne-Yo. Other guests included James' teammate Dwyane Wade and Wade's girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, and his coach, Erik Spoelstra.

The couple made it a three-day celebration. Page Six reported that there was a welcome barbeque for guests on Friday, the wedding ceremony and party on Saturday, and a farewell brunch on Sunday.

The 29-year-old NBA star proposed to Brinson at a New Year’s Eve party in 2012.
