“Legacies” spent most of the first season establishing the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, but it looks like Season 2 will dive deeper into the school “Vampire Diaries” fans know all too well: Mystic Falls High School.

Creator and showrunner Julie Plec told TVLine that fans should expect more of Elena and Caroline’s alma mater on the CW drama. “The school itself plays a big role in the season,” Plec revealed.

The big connection will be Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis). After being fired as headmaster of the school he helped found, Ric went back to his former employer. “TVD” fans will remember that he was a history teacher, a job he also had in one of Lizzie’s (Jenny Boyd) alternate universes last season.

“And the man needs a job,” Plec added.

Of course, he won’t be the only character in focus at Mystic Falls High School. There’s a new sheriff in town, Mac (Bianca Kajlich), who may or may not be a potential love interest for Ric. Before they can get close, he'll get some one-on-one time with her offspring. Her kids will be attending the nonmagical school.

As previously reported, her son Ethan (Leo Howard) will be a kind-hearted athlete while daughter Maya (Bianca Santos) is witty and flirty. What do the two teens have in common? Well, they have a common crush: Hope (Danielle Rose Russell).

However, first, the tribrid needs to come back. Hope sacrificed herself at the end of last season by throwing herself into the pit to destroy Malivore and erased herself from existence. Her loved ones don’t realize she’s gone, but they’ll know that something is off. Still, life moves on without Hope, and the “Legacies” Season 2 premiere will dive into how relationships have changed without Klaus’ daughter around.

“Legacies” Season 2 starts Thursday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
