Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Legends’ newest member Zari Adrianna Tomaz (Tala Ashe) won’t click right away in Season 3 of CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow.”

During a roundtable interview at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, Routh revealed that Ray and Zari won’t get along immediately when they meet each other next season. “I think they’re going to not see eye-to-eye,” Routh said (via Hidden Remote) when asked about Ray and Zari’s relationship. “That’s definitely going to be their dynamic for a while.”

Routh pointed out that Ray and Zari have opposing views about life and how technology can affect change, and those differences sort of put a wall between the two characters.

While Ray and Zari’s relationship will start out rocky, Routh said that he’s actually excited to act out this kind of dynamic. “I look forward to that,” the “Superman Returns” actor said. “I look forward to Ray having some one-on-one scenes. Often times our show’s so big that they have huge group scenes and fight stuff, so it’d be nice to have just a one-on-one scene.”

As previously reported, Zari is a Muslim-American computer geek from the future where fear, prejudice and lack of care for the planet remain rampant. Zari will bump heads with the Legends as she believes that their mission of just fixing the anachronisms isn’t ultimately helpful to humankind.

“The Legends meet Zari in 2042, and 2042 is a pretty bleak dystopian police state,” Ashe said (via Entertainment Weekly) at Television Critics Association’s summer press tour earlier this month. “Zari is speaking truth to power in the ways that she can; one of those ways is that she’s a hacktivist. She encounters the Legends and there’s a philosophical challenge there, because she sees they’re going to fix these anachronisms in history, but she’s living in a time that’s so bleak and terrible, so she challenges the Legends… to improve history and not just fix history. So there will be some tension there.”

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
