Tale Ashe has landed a series-regular role in Season 3 of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

Ashe will play Zari Adrianna Tomaz, a Muslim-American computer geek with a humorous and aggressive attitude who hails from the year 2030. According to the character description, “Zari lives in a world of contradictions. Technology has brought about incredible change in her future — too bad human nature hasn’t kept pace. Fear, prejudice, and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a ‘grey hat hacktivist.’” As Zari lives a double life, she is clueless that she has hidden powers derived from an ancient, mystical source.

In the comics, Zari is an Egyptian refugee who is enslaved and brought to Black Adam as a gift. After freeing her from slavery, Black Adam found her to be fearless and highly vocal about how she could change her country for the better. Zari changed the way Adam looked at the world, so he retrieved the magical amulet of Isis from the tomb of his wife and children and asked Captain Marvel to confer its powers on Zari. Upon holding the amulet and speaking “I am Isis,” Zari was transformed and instilled with the powers of Isis.

Shortly after her casting was announced, Ashe took to Twitter to express her excitement about her new TV role.

Ashe recently recurred as Anna Stone on NBC’s “American Odyssey.” Her other TV acting credits include NBC’s “Smash” and “Law & Order.” The Iranian-American actress recently starred in the off-Broadway production of “The Profane” at Playwrights Horizons, “Troilus and Cressida” at Shakespeare in the Park and “Head Over Heels” from producer Gwyneth Paltrow and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

According to the synopsis for Season 3 of “Legends of Tomorrow,” the Legends are going to face off against Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and his newly established group called the Time Bureau. The Time Bureau is a team of timeline-protecting individuals who don’t approve of the Legends’ methods of policing time. The Legends challenge the Time Bureau’s authority over the timeline and insist that however disordered their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities and can only be fixed by Legends.

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 premieres in the fall on The CW.
