Linda Hogan and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Charley Hill, have called off their engagement, according to announcement posted on Hogan's Facebook page.

Hogan, 52, who got her name from legendary professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, made major headlines when she started dating Hill in 2008.

The not-so fairytale relationship hit the bricks apparently, with Hogan citing therapy and a lot of soul-searching for the reason behind her decision.

Ok... My status has changed. I am now single, Linda wrote. After the great therapy we had together and time to think and concentrate on who we are and who we want to be, Charley and I decided that we should each travel through life in different directions.

Despite the controversy that surrounded the couple throughout the years, Hogan expressed gratitude to her fans for sticking by her and much younger beau.

Thank you all for always being so supportive of our relationship and choices. I hope that you all understand and are not be too terribly disappointed. Love you! the reality star added.

Hill, who is 29 years her junior and a year younger than her daughter Brooke, with whom he went to school, first began dating the cougarlicious Linda in 2008. They subsequently raised eyebrows in July 2010 after the multiple sources confirmed the pair had gotten engaged.

Hogan and Hill were scheduled to marry last summer aboard Hogan's yacht, but the nuptials apparently never took place.

Linda's attorney, Raymond J. Rafool, told E! News the Hogan Knows Best star made the best decision possible.

It is a very positive step for Linda, Hogan's lawyer said. Linda is extremely busy developing her soon-to-be-released cosmetic line and in pursuing her several television projects.

Linda and Hulk Hogan, 58 -- real name: Terry Bollea -- share kids Brooke, 24, and Nick, 22 and divorced in late 2007 after 24 years of marriage.

Hulk married Jennifer McDaniel in December 2010.
