Lohan was riding on the Pacific Coast Highway on Friday morning when the Porsche she rode in collided with an 18-wheeler dump truck, according to the Los Angeles Times. The car was totaled and the actress and her assistant, who was sitting in the passenger seat, were sent to the hospital. TMZ reported that both were bleeding and bruised, but conscious.

Once at the hospital, Lindsay Lohan reportedly laughed about the accident.

Lindsay was fine and was laughing about the incident, a nurse from UCLA Medical Center, who wished to remain anonymous, told Hollywood Life. Kind of sad if you ask me. But she's alive and I'm sure won't learn.

According to the L.A. Times, officials are unsure if Lohan was driving the Porsche, which TMZ revealed was a rental.

A preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were driving northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when the Porsche struck the rear end of the dump truck, the department said in a statement to the newspaper. Cause of the accident is under investigation. Investigators are attempting to determine the driver of the black Porsche at the time of the collision.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Investigators Chris Dawson or Jason Olson at (310) 458-8954 or the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8495.

The 25-year-old actress has faced a rocky road since 2007, when she was convicted for driving under the influence. Her hard-partying ways, shaky work ethic and jail stints sullied the Mean Girls actress' reputation.

Lohan is working to revive her career. She is currently starring as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime biopic, Liz and Dick. Even after the accident, Lohan refused to let producers cancel Friday's shoot in spite of her injuries, according to TMZ. The actress went straight to the movie set after leaving the hospital. She asked to cover the bruises and scratches on her body with makeup and keep rolling.
