Lionel Messi and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho are reportedly the only players to have reached double digits in goals and assists this season.

The Bundesliga is set to return on Saturday and the league has scheduled exciting matches to mark the end of its two-month hiatus. There is an array of names to take note in the restart but all eyes will be on Borussia Dortmund goal scorer Sancho.

Besoccer.com reported that not even Sancho’s co-star Erling Haaland is expected to outshine his return once Bundesliga comes back in action. One good reason is that the 20-year-old is entering the restart with 14 goals and 15 assists. Sancho is the only player in Bundesliga who managed to record double figures in the said categories. What’s even more surprising is that Sancho was the only player in Europe’s top 5 leagues who joined Messi with double figures in goals and assist. Before the lockdown, Sancho generates an average of more than 1 goal a game for Borussia Dortmund, another feat that matches with the Barcelona superstar.

Borussia Dortmund will take on Schalke 04 and pundits are already see the match to be another opportunity for the former Manchester City player to continue making history in Bundesliga. Sancho has been in his best form prior to the hiatus. He has scored goals and completed assists in 8 consecutive games and in fact, he has only failed to score and perform an assist in 2 of his 24 matches .

Stats truly show that Sancho is on his way to becoming one of the best of his generation. At 20 years old, the promising youngster has already been bagging goals like a veteran scorer. In his career, Sancho has tallied a total of 31 goals and dished out an incredible 42 assists in 90 games.

For the record, even Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi weren’t able to reach Sancho’s numbers at the same age. The Portuguese icon, who was the star of Man United from 2003 to 2009, only scored half the tally of Sancho’s with 16 goals and 16 assists in 107 appearances. The Barcelona star on the other hand, came a bit closer and managed to score 26 goals together with eight assists when he was Sancho’s age.

Meanwhile Chelsea are reportedly planning to sell two of their players this summer to fund a massive move for Sancho. The Blues are said to be hoping to cash in £80 million ($ 96.8 million) on Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata as preparation to make a bid for the Bundesliga star.
