  • Alcantara is set to sign a four-year deal with Liverpool
  • The midfielder has also found a house in Merseyside
  • He has won seven Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich’s midfielder Thiago Alcantara has reportedly agreed to a four-year deal with Liverpool FC in the ongoing summer market.

Alcantara, who has one year left in his current deal with Bayern Munich, has refused to sign an extension with the German champions.

After ending their 30-year wait to win the Premier League, Liverpool are now looking to bring more depth to their squad, especially in the midfield to provide more support to their glamorous front-three – Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino. Even though Alcantara has been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar over the last few months, Liverpool have not sealed the deal yet.

It is understood that Liverpool have been pondering over the transfer decision because they do not want to pay $35 million for a player, who they can sign for free after five months. According to Mohamed Bouhafsi, soccer editor at French media outlet RMC Sport, The Reds have agreed to personal terms with Alcantara, who is set to sign a deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2024. He has also revealed that Alcantara has informed his Bayern teammates that he is moving to Merseyside and has already found a house there.

Meanwhile, the German publication BILD has reported that the talks between Bayern and Liverpool about Alcantara’s transfer will resume after the end of the 2019-20 Champions League campaign. Bayern Munich recently thrashed FC Barcelona 8-2 in the quarter-final and are set to face French side Lyon in the last-four clash.

Alcantara, who moved from Barcelona to Bayern Munich in 2013, has won seven Bundesliga titles in as many seasons. The only title that Alcantara is yet to clinch with Bayern Munich is the Champions League, which he won with the Catalans in the 2010-11 season. After the club’s recent performance against Lionel Messi’s side, one could expect Alcantara to leave Bayern Munich as a two-time Champions League winner.

If Bayern Munich go past Lyon in the semi-final, they would face the winner of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and RB Leipzig in the grand finale, which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 23 in Lisbon.
