  • Owen Hargreaves thinks Jurgen Klopp will have a hard time managing his attacking options due to Diogo Jota
  • Hargreaves suggested the Reds need to exempt Roberto Firmino from being benched in the future
  • Wolves coach Nuno Espirito Santo lauded Jota's performance in his new club

England legend Owen Hargreaves has named Roberto Firmino as the only Liverpool star Jurgen Klopp should not drop despite Diogo Jota clearly making his mark on his stacked team.

For the first time this season, Jota will face his former team as Liverpool takes on Wolverhampton Wanderers Sunday. Ahead of the highly-anticipated Premier League clash, Hargreaves commented on how the attacking trio of Jota, Mane and Salah, together with the unselfish playing style of Firmino, could play out for Klopp.

According to Hargreaves, Klopp would soon have problems as Jota is now presenting a strong case to eventually overtake Mane and Salah’s roles. The former Manchester United star suggested that the German manager should let Firmino play his game as the Brazilian provides balance for the goalscoring trio on the pitch.

"I don’t think you can drop [Roberto] Firmino,” Hargreaves told BT Sport ahead of Liverpool vs. Wolves. “He’s so important and I think he’s the most unselfish player in the Premier League.”

“I know [Diogo] Jota deserves all the attention he’s getting, but if everybody is trying to have a shot when they get the ball – Salah, Jota and Mane, I think you’re going to start seeing a slight bit of tension,” he continued. "Firmino isn’t like that. It’s not about him so you need an unselfish guy in there.”

The 2006 England Player of the Year is also looking forward to seeing how Klopp would manage these players when the Reds finally meet the Wolves.

"But I’m interested to see [what team Klopp picks] because they played all four attackers against Manchester City and really went for it there,” the 39-year-old admitted."He might do that against Wolves."

Despite naturally being an attacker, Firmino has struggled to find the net this season, scoring only twice for the Reds. Jota, meanwhile, is playing an exceptional debut season with Liverpool, tallying an impressive nine goals in 15 matches. He is also the only Liverpool forward to score in four of the team’s last five matches.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has heaped praise on Jota heading into his first match against his former striker.

"We are proud and happy Diogo [Jota] is doing well,” Espirito Santo said in a pre-match conference. “He is a fantastic player and a fantastic boy. We know his characteristics but we are going to face Liverpool so we have to be aware of their qualities, Diogo plus all the other talented players Liverpool have."
