  • Liverpool legend Emile Heskey weighs in on his former club's attacking roster
  • Heskey suggests that the Reds consider signing Wolves' Pedro Neto and Adama Traore
  • Neto and Traore are both viewed as highly-regarded rising stars

Liverpool is being tipped to pursue two notable attackers who could help Jurgen Klopp’s foursome frontmen.

The signing of Diogo Jota bolstered Liverpool’s already lethal attacking force of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

However, former Anfield star Emile Heskey is certain that the Reds should also consider signing Jota’s Wolverhampton Wanderers teammates Pedro Neto and Adama Traore.

According to Heskey, both Neto and Traore suit Liverpool’s style of playing and would give Klopp even more “options” in the attacking department.

“Both of them. Traore and Neto,” Heskey recently said in an exclusive interview with “Rousing The Kop.” “Both give you different options and both are exciting players. Very, very direct which suits the way that Liverpool plays.”

Heskey also pointed out an interesting insight regarding the apparently declining attacking arsenal of Klopp’s trio.

For the 43-year-old, the Reds have been struggling to score goals and they need to inject fresh legs because the back-up attackers aren’t actually getting the job done.

“They’ve never really had that [depth] before,” the FA Cup winner said of Liverpool’s attack. “Usually, the front-three have killed off a game, and you bring the others (Shaqiri and Origi) on to see the game out.”

“Now, we are relying on those two to get yourself [Liverpool] back into a game or to finish off a game and it’s not quite there,” he added. “The depth isn’t quite at the level of Manchester City.”

Looking at Neto and Traore’s game, the pair appears to be highly-regarded in terms of potential.

According to Wolves correspondent and The Athletic’s Tim Spiers, Molineux decided to let go of Jota instead of Traore simply because the club sees the latter as a player who could potentially be better than the Portuguese striker.

“Perhaps, they could have sold Adama Traore for a similar fee [as Jota], but the feeling was Traore had a higher ceiling of potential than Jota,” Spiers said.

Neto, on the other hand, seems to be following the footsteps of his “idol” Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Wolves winger has started to earn comparisons to Ronaldo after notching five goals and four assists in his second season in the English Premier League, an “exactly the same” feat the five-time Ballon d’Or winner achieved during his second year at Manchester United.

Before the 2020-21 Premier League season began, Neto has revealed his admiration towards Ronaldo and admitted that he tries to emulate how his fellow countryman plays.

“I watched Cristiano Ronaldo's games on television, which was my reference, for Manchester United and I thought I would also like to play in that fabulous league,” Neto told Wolves’ official website last year. “He’s on a different level. I try to copy him.”
