Liverpool FC superstar Mohamed Salah tested positive for COVID-19 again while on international duty with Egypt Wednesday.

Egypt’s soccer association confirmed that Salah, who tested COVID-19 positive for the first time last week, returned a positive test despite not displaying symptoms, as reported by BBC Sport. As of now, Salah will stay put in Egypt, while Liverpool will follow government and Premier League protocols on when he can return to action.

Salah tested positive on the eve of Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo, while, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny tested positive three days later before testing positive again with the Liverpool striker.

Liverpool are already without a few key players such as Trent Alexender-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara, Joe Gomez, and Fabinho due to injuries. Even though the defending champions have not commented on Salah’s situation, Jurgen Klopp’s side is likely to be without the Egyptian for their upcoming trip to Leicester City Sunday. Salah also could be ruled out of Liverpool's Champions League game against Atalanta next Wednesday, while Elneny is expected to miss Arsenal's trip to Leeds United Sunday and their Europa League clash with Molde on Nov. 26.

Salah Tuesday posted on social media, "I'd like to thank everyone for the supportive messages and well wishes. I'm confident I'll be back on the field soon."

In the 2020-21 campaign, Salah has started all eight of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures as he is also the joint leading goal scorer this season in the Premier League with eight goals. In Liverpool’s previous fixture that was against Manchester City, just before the international break, Salah scored the crucial goal in the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
