Current Sam’s Club members are calling out the wholesale retailer for offering a low-price deal to join its clubs, saying the discount isn’t fair to its long-time members and are wondering what they get for being loyal to its stores.

The deal from Sam’s Club offers an annual membership for only $8 to new members or members who have been inactive for at least six months from June 26 through July 4.

The membership deal is being dubbed “less than a fourth” of the typical annual membership as it leads up to the July 4 holiday and costs a fourth of the regular membership price, which is $45 a year, according to the Sam's Club website.

The deal does not apply to a Plus membership, which costs $100 a year and includes free shipping and pharmacy discounts.

While the $8 membership deal is an incentive for some shoppers to join Sam’s Club, current members were outraged over the price drop and took to social media to express their frustrations with the company.

Current Sam’s Club members criticized the company for offering a lower-priced membership to new shoppers when they have shown their loyalty for so many years. Many social media users questioned the fairness.

Some wondered why they can’t renew for $8.

Still, other members slammed Sam’s Club for the offer by saying they were going to “cancel” their memberships.

Some members said they were switching to Costco or BJ’s Wholesale Club.

Other Sam’s Club members pleaded with the retail chain to offer them a discount for their loyalty.

Sam’s Club previously offered a membership promotion in February to drum up customers to its nearly 600 locations across the U.S.
