The Los Angeles Lakers just had their biggest weekend of the season, defeating the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers over the course of 48 hours. The No.1 seed in the Western Conference is considered the top contender to win the 2020 NBA Finals.

The Lakers are the new title favorites at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. Los Angeles leads the way with better than 2/1 championship odds. The Bucks and Clippers are tied for second at 3/1.

The Houston Rockets are a distant fourth with 20/1 odds to win the NBA Finals. It will be a major upset if a team outside of L.A. or Milwaukee becomes the next champion.

Milwaukee led all teams with 9/4 title odds a week ago. Both Los Angeles teams had 11/4 championship odds.

The Bucks are running away with the top seed in the East. Milwaukee leads the defending champion Toronto Raptors by 7.5 games atop the conference standings with an NBA-best plus-11.3 point differential.

The Lakers are only three games behind the Bucks for the best record in the NBA. Giannis Antetokounmpo missed Milwaukee’s loss against the Phoenix Suns Sunday with a minor knee sprain. The MVP favorite will also miss Monday night’s contest against the Denver Nuggets.

LeBron James outplayed Antetokounmpo Friday night at Staples Center. He scored 37 points on 21 field-goal attempts to go along with eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals. James added 28 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and three blocks in Sunday’s victory over the Clippers, making the MVP race tighter than it appeared a few days ago.

Kawhi Leonard isn’t in the regular-season MVP conversation, but his run towards winning the 2019 NBA Finals MVP award is the biggest reason why the Clippers and Bucks have the same championship odds. Leonard led Toronto to four straight wins over Milwaukee in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals.

The Clippers are the West’s No.2 seed, trailing the Lakers by 6.5 games. The Clippers have nine more losses than the Bucks.

The Lakers are still 2-3 against the Clippers and Bucks this season. Leonard bested James on Opening Night and Christmas Day. Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in a victory over the Lakers on Dec. 19.
