A female student at Southeastern Louisiana University, who was arrested for stabbing her dating partner early Saturday, has been released on bond, according to reports.

Elizabeth Grace Johnson, 18, of Folsom, Louisiana, was charged with aggravated battery of a male student who attends Louisiana State University and who had been visiting the Southeastern Louisiana University campus. It is unclear how long Johnson and the victim had been dating.

Johnson was booked at Tangipahoa Parish Jail before her release on bond.

At about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, campus police responded to a call from a third party about a disturbance at a coed dorm and found the victim had been stabbed eight times. The victim, who survived the attack after being listed in critical condition, was taken to the trauma center at nearby North Oaks Hospital.

“This incident currently remains under investigation, and the student will go through the proper university disciplinary process as well as the criminal justice system process,” school spokesperson Mike Rivault wrote in a statement.

“The university process may result in disciplinary measures up to and including expulsion, but that is not yet complete.”

Johnson has been placed on interim suspension from the Southeastern Louisiana University.

Authorities have not determined a motive for the attack. In a police report, Johnson was described as having a “worried” demeanor.

The victim’s mother has been vocal about the incident on social media and has asked for blood donations amid her son’s critical condition and multiple surgeries.

“His doctors tell us he is not out of the woods yet despite some amazing improvement. These are the reasons we continue to ask for blood donations,” she wrote in a post.

On Wednesday, the victim's mother noted that he underwent another surgery as a result of his stab wounds.

"Surgery went amazing!! Abdomen is completely closed!! He is off the ventilator!!! And now he is off the CPap!! Oxygen tube only!!! He is already making people smile and laugh with his comments!!!" the victim's mother shared on Facebook.
