‘Lucifer’
Does Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German) have a chance at becoming a couple in “Lucifer” Season 2? Fox

“Lucifer” Season 2 officially returned to Fox on Monday night!

In “Lucifer” Season 2, episode 14, titled “Candy Morningstar,” an upset Chloe (Lauren German) was left with no other choice but to deal with the fact that Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) is already married to a woman named Candy (Lindsey Gort). However, Lucifer is simply using Candy so that he could get information from his mom, Charlotte (Tricia Helfer). At first, Chloe acted indifferently towards Lucifer. She also told him several times that they can no longer work together. But Lucifer did not stop trying to prove himself still worthy of being called Chloe’s partner.

While they were on a mission to find out who killed the lead vocalist of a music group, Lucifer was able to give Chloe a lead that could help her with her investigation. In the end, Chloe decided to re-hire Lucifer as her partner, and she asked him to report to work on time the next day. After their conversation, Lucifer sent Candy to the car, but before she left, she asked Lucifer what his relationship with Chloe really is. When Lucifer couldn’t give her an answer, Candy told Lucifer that she knows his and Chloe’s bond is something not even he should mess with.

While speaking with TV Line, executive producer Joe Henderson explained Lucifer’s dynamic with Chloe and Charlotte in episode 14. “Lucifer comes back and has made a very big decision on how he is going to deal with Mom and Chloe, and it’s a decision that’s going to make neither of them happy. But it’s also something Lucifer feels like he needs to do,” he said.

Elsewhere in the episode, Charlotte also struggled with the thought that she might have been responsible for destroying Lucifer. In the midseason finale for Season 2, Charlotte revealed to Lucifer the real reason why Chloe was put on his path. Chloe was sent to Earth to cross paths with Lucifer so her feelings for him may not really be genuine. This is also the reason why Lucifer decided to leave Chloe when they started to take their relationship to the next level. Lucifer doesn’t want Chloe to get hurt, so he sacrificed his feelings for her hoping this won’t happen.

Talking about Charlotte from episode 14, Henderson said that Charlotte will continue to feel remorseful because of her actions. But she and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) are also aware that Lucifer could be concocting a plan against them. “That immediately makes Mom suspicious, so her first thought is that he is up to something – and she is dead-set on figuring out what,” he said.

Talking about Amenadiel, Henderson said that the final five episodes for “Lucifer” Season 2 will reveal which side he’s really on. “The big arc of these final five episodes is trying to decide where he ultimately stands. Is he on God’s side, is he on Mom’s side? Or is there just an Amenadiel side? Can he ultimately just decide what’s best for him in the long run?” he said.

Lucifer” Season 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
