Before Charlize Theron was finalized for Furiosa's character in the movie "Mad Max: Fury Road," Zoë Kravitz and Gal Gadot auditioned for the role. Author Kyle Buchanan shared unseen audition photos of these two actresses, who almost got the role.

Buchanan noted that his book, "Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild & True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road," which revolves around the making of the 2015's movie, "Mad Max: Fury Road," was launched one month ago and now to celebrate the same, he dropped some "never-before-seen casting photos" on Twitter on Tuesday.

"Here's Gal Gadot from her London audition to play Furiosa. (And she almost got the role)," he captioned Gadot's photo from the audition. She can be seen wearing a plain black t-shirt and looking into the camera.

In the same tweet thread, the author also shared a photo of Theron and Tom Hardy posing together for a photo. "Here is Charlize and Tom's very first casting meeting. They had a Skype call with George Miller (the director of the movie) that day so he could get a sense of their screen chemistry," he wrote.

Actor Nicholas Hoult, who played Nux's character in the movie, was 19 years old at the time of the audition.

"George Miller was reluctant to even see him for the role of Nux because Hoult is 6 inches taller than Tom Hardy," Buchanan added. "But casting director Ronna Kress kept pushing for it. (He'd be 25 by the time the film came out.)"

The author further revealed that actor Jeremy Renner also auditioned for the role of Max (played by Hardy in the movie) and read the lines opposite Kravitz.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" was released on May 15, 2015. It revolves around a team of people who work against a tyrant who controls the water supply on the land.

Following the success of the movie, the director is all set to make a sequel, titled "Mad Max: The Wasteland," which is slated to release on June 23, 2023.

Reportedly, Chris Hemsworth will also join the original cast members for the sequel considering he is part of the "Furiosa" movie, which revolves around the story of Furiosa’s character before she joined the team of "Mad Max: Fury Road."

"Furiosa" is slated to release in 2024 and it is currently under pre-production.
