  • Electronic Arts announced a dedicated "Madden 21" event on June 1
  • In its Twitter post, EA promised to give a true "first look" on the upcoming football simulation
  • "Madden 21" is expected to be released sometime in August 2020

Electronic Arts have a big surprise in store for fans of its hit football simulation “Madden NFL.”

On Sunday, the American video game company teased that it will host a big reveal on June 1 solely dedicated to the popular video game franchise. On the official Twitter account of “Madden NFL 21,” a photo with the date “6.1.20.” was posted.

The caption of the said post read “So much more than a name... First look coming soon #Madden21.”

While no specific detail was mentioned about the planned event, the fact that the caption said “first look” should indicate some sort of a gameplay reveal.

It is worth noting that EA released an official trailer for “Madden 21” during the Inside Xbox presentation earlier this May. However, the trailer was more of a teaser about the game and was even far from a cinematic trailer that would hype fans.

With that said, the June 1 event is expected to showcase the new features coming to the game, as well as possibly the changes in gameplay dynamics and overall graphics and performance. After all, “Madden 21” is coming to next-gen consoles – Xbox Series X and PlayStation 21 -- which boast a lot of power.

Interestingly though, EA also has a planned event on June 11, the EA Play Live, which will give an in-depth preview of its lineup of games for the summer of 2020. Considering that “Madden 21” is one of the major titles of the studio, it is expected to be featured mainly in the event alongside “FIFA 21” and “NHL 21.”

“Madden 21” is expected to be released around August 2020. It has been confirmed for Xbox One and Xbox Series X, while it is also expected to come to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

EA is set to “semi-support” Microsoft’s Smart Delivery program for its Xbox consoles. This means that customers who buy "Madden 21" for Xbox One on or before Dec. 31, 2020 will be able to get a free upgrade to its Xbox Series X version until March 31, 2021.

It is still unknown how Sony plans to deliver the game to PS5, especially with the competition it is facing with Microsoft.
