  • Mama June left Geno Doak because he was drinking a lot
  • The reality star was determined to get better, but her ex wasn’t
  • Doak entered a rehabilitation center a month after their split

Mama June Shannon walked away from ex-boyfriend Geno Doak because of his drinking problem, according to a report.

Sources exclusively told TMZ this week that the 42-year-old reality star broke up with her 45-year-old ex because she was already done with their former lifestyle, while he was still holding onto his alcohol problem.

Mama June and Geno were not on the same page on their sobriety journey as the controversial matriarch had already decided to change for the better. However, Doak was still drinking a lot.

When Mama June left and started seeing someone else, Geno did not take things well that he began to spiral. Insiders said he went to a dark place, and it led him to being hospitalized in Fort Pierce, Florida in early September.

Last week, Geno entered a rehabilitation center in South Carolina where he will be a resident in the facility’s long-term intensive program. The center’s director said in documents obtained by TMZ that he is required to complete a minimum of 120 days in the facility. There is also an option for him to stay there for up to a year.

The program that Doak is entering is designed to help individuals efficiently transition to sober living. It also helps residents find employment after their rehab stint.

In mid-August, Mama June shockingly announced on social media that she and Geno were no longer together. “Listen, Geno is not in the f—-in’ picture. [He’s] not part of my life, hasn’t been,” she said during a live conversation with a friend.

Prior to her admission, Geno also seemingly alluded to their split when he shared a cryptic post on Instagram about letting go of someone who had been asking for their freedom.

Both Mama June and Geno were arrested in March 2019 for drug-related charges. As shown on “Mama June: From Not To Hot” Season 5, Mama June was able to dodge prison. On the other hand, Geno was sentenced to 16 months in Macon Community Corrections in Alabama in his crack cocaine case.

The exes were together for six years before their breakup. Doak started seeing Mama June in 2015, before she even underwent her massive transformation for her family’s reality show.
