  • Many of Pumpkin’s fans agreed with her and even praised her on Instagram for stepping up for her sister

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson are reuniting with Mama June Shannon this week on “Mama June: Road to Redemption” after the lead star’s rehab stint. However, Pumpkin is having second thoughts, especially when it comes to her younger sister’s feelings for Mama June after the latter walked away from them two years ago.

Pumpkin, 21, recently shared a snippet on Instagram from the new episode of their We TV show that is set to air on Friday. In the clip, Pumpkin receives a call from the mediator of their reunion, saying that Mama June, 41, is hoping to finally look them in the eyes and tell them that she’s been doing well.

Upon hearing the mediator’s voice, 16-year-old Alana’s face lights up, and she expresses her excitement for their reunion.

The video then cuts to Pumpkin’s confessional in which she makes it clear that she’s “not 100% OK with Alana seeing” Mama June again after what happened between them a couple of years ago.

“I just hope Momma doesn’t break her heart again,” Pumpkin adds at the end of the clip.

Pumpkin’s followers quickly reacted to the teaser clip. Most of them praised her for stepping up for her younger sister and for being so mature in making big adult decisions despite her age. But others also encouraged her to give Mama June another chance to prove herself to them, so that their family could be reunited again.

“I’ve been watching since y’all started with honey boo boo. I’m your age and Idk how you do it by taking care of a baby and a teenager. You’ve matured so much as a person and everything happens for a reason. You’ve become a stronger and better person from everything. … Keep on doing the right thing for Alana because later in the future she’ll thank you,” one fan wrote.

“Keep doing what you are doing young lady! You stepped up and are doing great. But, please take time for yourself. It's hard and gets stressful and you have a lot going on,” another commented.

One user agreed with Pumpkin’s sentiment and said that the reunion would be too much to handle for Alana. A different netizen reminded Pumpkin that they should do the reunion because they have “to start somewhere” if they want things sorted out.

In a recent interview with TooFab, Pumpkin got candid about the reunion episode and admitted that she has high expectations considering Mama June has been trying to reach out to them via phone and even told them that she’s far from the person she was years ago when her drug addiction got the best of her.

“She has to prove to me that she is truly sober. She has to prove to me that she’s not the person that even she was before the addiction, the one who lied about the little things. For me too, she’s gonna have to let it take time,” Pumpkin said.

In March 2019, Mama June and her boyfriend Geno Doak, 45, made headlines after they got arrested in Alabama on drug-related charges. After which, Mama June left her kids to be with her beau.

In a recent interview, Mama June shared that at the time, she actually spent almost $1 million on drugs but has since changed after completing her rehab stint.

“Mama June: Road to Redemption” airs Fridays at 8 p.m EDT on We TV.
