A man burnt his 18-year-old female colleague alive for fat-shaming him. The incident took place in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, on Jan.24.

According to local reports, the victim, identified as 18-year-old Rosida, used to continuously bully 27-year-old Ali Heri Sanjaya, referring to his girth and calling him “fat.” She often told him that he looked like a “sumo wrestler.” Sanjaya couldn’t take it anymore and decided to teach the teen a lesson.

On Jan. 24, the family of the victim filed a missing person’s complaint after she failed to return home from work. During the search, investigators found charred human remains in a farm. The body was burnt up to 75 percent. A forensic examination revealed that the body was of the missing teen.

A manhunt was immediately launched for the accused. Police found Sanjaya at a local hotel on Jan.28 and took him into custody. In the police station, the accused, who looked remorseless, continued to eat the food that was offered to him. During interrogation, he confessed to killing the teen for bullying him.

The man remained in custody as of Friday and was likely to be charged with homicide. He could be sentenced to death if found guilty of the crime.
