In a horrific incident, a man stabbed his mother-in-law to death, then inserted a bamboo stick into her genitals and pulled out her organ.

The incident took place in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The accused, whose identity was not revealed, had just been released after spending three years in jail in connection with another crime, India Times reported.

Following his release on Sept. 1, the man went to his home to meet his wife but found out that she had married someone else and was pregnant. He tracked her down and asked her to leave her new husband. He went to her house again the next day but she had left the place by the time. Unable to reach her, the accused went to her mother's home to know her whereabouts.

The woman, however, refused to give any details and the two got into a heated argument. The accused picked up a knife and stabbed his mother-in-law multiple times. He then inserted a bamboo stick into her genitals.

"After assaulting her on the head with tiles and stabbing her with a knife, the accused inserted a bamboo in her private part and pulled out an internal organ," a police officer said, India Today reported.

Police later arrested the man and charged him with unnatural offenses. The accused was remanded to police custody till Sept. 14.

Earlier this year, an elderly woman in the southern Indian state of Karnataka was strangled to death by her daughter-in-law and lover for objecting to their relationship. The body of the victim was found on rail tracks a day after she was reported missing. An investigation revealed that the accused strangled her to death before taking away all her ornaments. They then dumped her body on the tracks to make it look like an accidental death.
