A Manchester United wantaway loanee doesn’t want to rush things when it comes to making decisions on his future.

The Red Devils have been tossing Tahith Chong around the first team and the English Premier League Division 2 since 2016. Last year, Manchester United decided to loan him out to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, only for him to be loaned again to Belgian side Club Brugge after 13 matches.

Chong’s current deal with Manchester United is set to expire in 2022. But as early as now, the media has started pressing him to discuss his future plans. However, the 21-year-old insisted that he is not thinking about it at the moment.

“I look at it step by step," Chong recently told Dutch outlet De Kraant van West-Vlaanderen about his future. “If I start thinking about where I want to be next year, I wouldn’t be focused on Anderlecht next Sunday.”

“I can only do my utmost,” he continued. “And enjoy the game. I always try to play football with a smile. My focus is now on the two remaining matches and the play-offs. You will have to prove yourself there anyway.”

The Dutchman further revealed that if he thinks it’s time to address the situation, he would need to consult his family about it.

“[If I could choose] then I would go home and discuss it with my mum and dad,” the left-footed midfielder revealed. “Then I’ll listen to the pluses and minuses. Then we’ll work it out as a family.”

Chong had his best run with Manchester United in the 2018-19 Premier League Division 2 season, having recorded six goals and two assists in 17 games. However, after struggling to secure a spot at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, Chong is now hoping to find “stability” in his loaning club.

“Staying here [at Club Brugge] for another year could give me stability, but that is for later,” Chong told Voetbalmagazine last month. “As far as I know, there is no option in the agreement, we will have to discuss that with Manchester United later.”

“I like Belgium and Bruges too, it’s similar to the Netherlands,” he continued. “Somewhere it is in my head that staying here will help me to achieve some stability, but it is difficult to fully focus on that already.”

Prior to enjoying his loan spell at Club Brugge, Chong's agent Erkan Alkan stated in August that Solskjaer had already told his client “he can leave” on loan should an opportunity come his way.

At the time, Alkan revealed that Chong’s preference was to become a permanent player for Werder Bremen.

"Mr. [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer kept his promise from March and told Tahith [Chong] that he can leave the club," Alkan told German outlet Bild. “The boy really wants to go to Werder.”

“He wants to be part of the preparation as soon as possible so that he can quickly find his way around," the agent continued.
