Manchester United will be hoping to get its rhythm back under the tutelage of Ralf Rangnick.

On Monday, November 29, Manchester United officially announced the appointing of Rangnick as the club’s interim manager.

However, it was also revealed that Rangnick and the club have agreed that he will only be managing the club until the end of the season and will “continue in a consultancy role for a further two years.”

“I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club,” Rangnick said in a statement. “The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfill their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.”

“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis,” he continued.

Manchester United football director John Murtough, who has always been an admirer of Rangnick’s work, further stated that the club is hoping to benefit from the German’s “invaluable” skill set as a seasoned manager and as an advisor.

“Ralf is one of the most respected coaches and innovators in European football,” Murtough raved. “He was our number one candidate for interim manager, reflecting the invaluable leadership and technical skills he will bring from almost four decades of experience in management and coaching.

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with him during the season ahead, and then for a further two years in his advisory role,” he added.

At the moment, Michael Carrick will still be in charge of Manchester United’s first team until the club is done finalizing Rangnick’s working visa.

Major changes are expected to happen once Rangnick arrives at Old Trafford.

An earlier report said that Rangnick will not be looking to add new signings. Instead, he will be more focused on player exits.

Among the players likely to see their way out of Old Trafford in January are Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek.

It was also noted that the former Lokomotiv Moscow head of sports and development will implement his infamous countdown clock during training sessions with Manchester United.

The said training routine requires players to win the ball within eight seconds before producing a shot on goal within 10 seconds after successfully reclaiming a possession.

They will also hear the countdown clock ticking during drills, which Rangnick is reportedly confident can produce satisfying results.
