  • Manchester United's Jesse Lingard has been remarkable as a loanee at West Ham
  • Lingard may have hinted at what he really wants Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to do
  • The midfield star is linked to a return to Old Trafford

A Manchester United loanee could be expecting a change as rumors link him to a return to Old Trafford.

Jesse Lingard had fallen out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order as the current Manchester United midfield is stacked with exceptional talents. The Red Devils loaned Lingard out to West Ham where the Englishman resurged.

To date, Lingard has already notched five goals and registered three assists in just seven appearances for the Hammers. His fine form has led to reports stating that Manchester United is considering ending his loan spell. However, Lingard’s latest comments suggest that he wants more pitch action when if he is to return.

"Yeah, I'm really pleased," Lingard told reporters, including Manchester Evening News, after England’s win over San Marino on Thursday. "Like I say, I just really wanted regular football and, you know, when I play week in, week out it builds confidence.”

The 28-year-old further emphasized that he has no plans of putting an end to his rhythm.

"I've been scoring goals and assisting to help my team - it's been amazing,” he continued. “Like I say, I just want to carry on that run of form now."

Despite being thrilled to have Lingard in his team, West Ham manager David Moyes recently admitted that they haven’t discussed anything yet about the midfield star’s loan extension.

“I can see by the way he is working he is even getting better, his physical data has got better and overall he has been very good for us,” Moyes said of Lingard in a recent press conference. “He has helped us and given us another string to our bow and given us more attacking options, so we are really pleased with him.”

"We have not thought about that [Lingard’s loan extension] really, we have not taken it any further at the moment,” the coach revealed. “We have him on loan and he is doing a good job for us just now, I think we will discuss that and probably look at it at the end of the season. But it is not something that we have taken any further than the situation we are in just now.”

Lingard has indeed made his mark in West Ham, and even some of his teammates are hoping he could stay for a little longer.

“All the lads have really taken to him and I’m so happy we’ve got him here now at West Ham,” Hammers vice-captain Declan Rice told Talksport last month. “Hopefully we can do that for much longer for next season as well!”
