KEY POINTS

  • Man Utd defeated Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford Sunday
  • It was Arsenal's first loss of the league season
  • Man Utd now have won 4 league games in a row

Bruno Fernandes has claimed Manchester United have developed a "winning habit" after their latest victory in the Premier League.

Manchester United defeated Arsenal 3-1 at home to register their fourth straight win in the 2022-23 Premier League. The Red Devils have improved massively under new boss Erik ten Hag after a nightmare start to the campaign, where they lost their opening two games.

Marcus Rashford netted a brace, while new summer signing Antony scored on his maiden appearance for the Red Devils.

Fernandes was involved in all three goals of Manchester United. While he assisted Rashford's second goal, he was involved in the build-up for the first and third goals.

"It has to become a habit. We know that, playing for this club, [winning] has to be a habit. We have to do that. We know that sometimes we get a result, sometimes we don't, but the fight and the spirit and the togetherness has to always be there to get three points," Fernandes told MUTV on Sunday.

Fernandes, who has scored a goal and provided an assist in six games this season, also credited Manchester United's defensive strategy that guided the team to four consecutive wins in the Premier League for the first time since April 2021.

"I thought everyone was compact. The togetherness was there, the fighting spirit and everything and that's why we get the three points and that's why we have a performance like that. Sometimes you have to be deep, you have to defend, you have to defend your own box because the other team has the quality and can cause you problems. If you do like we did today, you don't concede many and you score more than them," added Fernandes in the same interview.

Arsenal had won all their fixtures before traveling to Manchester on Sunday, where he suffered their first loss of the campaign.

Manchester United are currently placed fifth in the league table with 12 points in six games. Ten Hag and company are just three points behind table-toppers Arsenal.

The Red Devils are scheduled to next face-off Real Sociedad on Thursday, which will only mark Cristiano Ronaldo's Europa League debut.
