Manchester United legend Roy Keane is not pleased with how Frank Lampard and Chelsea let Manchester City haplessly defeated them.

The Blues are experiencing quite a winning drought this season, having won only one of their last six outings. The latest blow came this Sunday after Manchester City decisively claimed a 3-1 victory over them at Stamford Bridge.

Weighing in on Chelsea’s poor run, Keane put an emphasis on the team’s lack of intensity in attacking and the determination to bounce back after being down big.

While Keane thinks Lampard and his players committed terrible lapses the entire game, he singled out attacking midfielder Mason Mount for not stepping up for his club.

“Mason Mount, he’s standing there as a midfielder getting back, the center-half’s got to do better,” Keane said on Sky Sports after the game. “Mason Mount’s watching him, he’s got to put a challenge in.”

“When you’ve got your midfielders coming back–and I know Mount is more of an attacking player, he’s got to put his foot in, make a sacrifice, tackle him,” he continued. “Frank [Lampard] can be scratching his head after the game, he’ll be frustrated–I’m looking forward to his interview.”

Despite housing an array of highly-rated and expensive signings such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, Chelsea only managed to execute nine shots and just two on target.

"The attacking players need to show up,” the seven-time English Premier League winner rued. “They need a miracle to get back into this game. They've been shocking, they're not showing any aggression."

"For the money they've spent, they don't look any stronger,” he added. "Players not sprinting back, I really don't get that. I've been in football a long time, and people try and analyze that. That should be in your instinct as a human being and a footballer. He's got senior players out there, he's got lads who have won the World Cup."

The aftermath of the defeat could result in a major turnaround in Lampard’s career as a manager. According to the Athletic, the club’s executives are now considering sacking him.

However, the three-time Premier League champ remains focused on helping the organization while also acknowledging the fact that he will always feel the pressure.

"I am not concerned about that point [of being sacked]," Lampard stated in his post-match press conference. "I expected periods of difficulty this year. I said it when we beat Leeds [United]. I know it doesn't come easy. A month ago, people were saying when was I going to get a new contract. The pressure remains constant in this job. You know in tough moments that will be there. My job is to keep working and lift the players.”

"I always feel the heat, I even did when we were on our good run. I am not going to speak for people above me because I can never do that," he added.
