  • Manchester United is looking for a long-term relationship with new signing Amad Diallo, a report says
  • United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees no obstacles in Diallo's move to Old Trafford

Manchester United sees a bigger picture ahead of the arrival of new signing Amad Diallo.

After reaching an agreement with United in October, Atalanta’s Diallo and the Red Devils have now secured a deal that could potentially rise to £37 million ($50.6 million).

At the moment, United is not considering loaning Diallo and is keen on catapulting the youngster into the first team with a plan to make him stay for a long period of time, Manchester Evening News reported, citing unnamed sources. International Business Times could not independently confirm this information.

Speaking after the win over Aston Villa on Friday, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer guaranteed a smooth transfer for Diallo as well as shared the club’s long-term plans for incoming and future signings.

"Amad [Diallo], we've had the paperwork," Solskjaer confirmed to reporters in a recent press conference. "We're waiting for other paperworks. I can’t see any obstacles, really, so hopefully he'll be with us in not too long.”

"But apart from that not seeing too much of what we're gonna do – we are always working long-term, that's the big thing, on targets," he added.

As for Diallo’s adjustment to the Premier League, Solskjaer vowed to give the 18-year-old “time” to find his rhythm in a new environment.

"Very excited about bringing him [Diallo] in,” the Norwegian revealed. “He's shown a few times his qualities but he has to learn that playing in England is a different type of football, so we'll give him time to develop.”

However, despite United’s high hopes for Diallo, Atalanta is looking to stall the teenager’s move to Old Trafford.

According to Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini, United is now in control of Diallo professionally, but he has an “internal” solution to prolong the forward’s stay in the Italian top flight.

“There is an internal solution that could be very interesting, which is Amad Diallo,” Gasperini told Goal. “Clearly, Manchester United own him, but he could remain with us for a few more months.”

“I really like him, he’s only 18, and I’d like him to stay until June, but obviously it depends on his club,” he added.

Despite Gasperini’s concrete desire to keep Diallo, the wonderkid has barely made his mark at Atalanta. This season, Diallo only made two substitute appearances for the Serie A side, tallying just a total of 35 minutes of pitch time.

Meanwhile, United has stayed up-to-date on Diallo’s progress since 2016 and has viewed the youngster as “one of the most exciting young prospects in Italian football.”
