  • Manchester United has been keeping tabs on Villareal's Pau Torres
  • Torres hints at moving to the English Premier League
  • Villareal coach Unai Emery is open to losing the defender for top European clubs

A Manchester United target may have just dropped the biggest hint about his potential transfer.

The Red Devils are among the teams expected to make moves in the next transfer window. However, it is quite understandable if not all the targets are keen to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

But this has not been the case for Villareal defender Pau Torres, a Spanish rising star who is eager to make the big switch to Manchester United, Manchester Evening News reported.

What’s ever more interesting, Torres revealed that he has been studying different languages, including English.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old teased about a possible move to the English Premier League by insisting that now is the right time to learn the language.

"In the morning I do the training regime and then I do the food following the guidelines established by the club," Torres told El Periodico Mediterraneo. "In the afternoon, after lunch, I study a few languages because I was learning English and now is a good time to resume it."

Torres is considered one of the most remarkable defenders in Spain. Aside from Manchester United, Real Madrid is also believed to be keeping tabs on the center-back.

The Villarreal academy graduate is said to have a release clause around the region of €60 million ($70 million) in his current contract with the La Liga side, which is due to end in 2024.

To date, Torres has already notched two goals in 26 appearances for Villareal but has been an impressive player for coach Unai Emery since last year.

Due to Torres’ swift progress, Emery has become open to the possibility that his star defender will soon be leaving his side for other “top European teams.”

According to Emery, Torres is a unique player who has the ability to become a star even outside the Spanish top-flight.

"Pau Torres is an amazing player--I think he’s top [player]," Emery told Football.london in January. "I've been a coach in Sevilla, PSG, Arsenal, and I’ve never seen a center-back like Pau Torres.”

"I think he’s going to play at the highest level. He’s playing now in the national team, but he can play in the top teams in Europe very soon," he added.
