Meghan Markle had an awkward and embarrassing encounter during her first public appearance after her emotional interview.

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out to attend the opening ceremony of the One Young World Summit at London’s Royal Albert Hall. It was her first sighting after the ITV documentary “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey” aired when the royal couple poured their heart out as they spoke about their struggles as royals and parents.

Markle was stunning in her purple dress. However, according to Express, the duchess was caught in an embarrassing encounter when founder Kate Robertson welcomed her on stage.

Prince Harry’s wife approached her with arms wide open for a hug. However, at the last minute, Robertson dropped into a curtsy, leaving Markle looking startled at the gesture with her arms awkwardly hanging in the air. To cover up the blunder, the two still proceeded on giving each other a hug.

Kate Middleton also experienced the same awkward scenario during her visit to Pakistan with Prince William. On their first official day of the royal tour, Middleton stepped out in a glamorous traditional blue kurta and scarf by Maheen Khan.

The duchess appeared amused with a soldier that she forgot to follow the royal protocol. Middleton extended her arm for a handshake, but the soldier continued to salute. The royal mother of three awkwardly waited until the soldier realized his mistake and immediately gave the royal a handshake.

While many were pleased to see Markle after her emotional interview, some questioned the duchess’ statement. She admitted that she struggled with living under the spotlight, but some felt that she was enjoying it.

In her recent engagement, the royal was all smiles and appeared fine. One netizen wrote on social media that he was confused if Markle wanted more or less media attention. Others said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could renounce their royal privilege and live a quiet life if they do not want the press to cover them.

“The struggle is unreal,” one online user commented on Twitter.
