Meghan Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, recently made headlines after rumors swirled that she was once sent to prison.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans are wondering whether or not Ragland’s alleged prison time was the reason why Markle spent more time with her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., while she was growing up.

Ree Connell, a graduate from RMIT University, said that rumors about Ragland being sent to prison years ago are nothing but malicious gossip. Online trolls have been attacking Markle for months, and they have also been targeting her mom because of their close relationship.

“Doria Ragland is a very classy and accomplished woman who is well educated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Social Work. With these qualifications to become licensed as a social worker in the State of California, you must undertake an extensive criminal record background check,” she said.

Eileen Wood, a real estate assistant, said that the rumors about Ragland being sent to prison so Markle spent more time with her estranged father are baseless lies. The royal fan said that Markle lived with Thomas because her mom was working as a flight attendant.

Bridgit Sam-Bailey said that she couldn’t believe how some people can be so intent in spreading rumors about the members of the royal family, particularly Markle and her mom.

“These two have done no harm to us. Look at their decorum!” she said.

Last week, royal fans also discussed Ragland’s previous work as a flight attendant and compared her with Kate Middleton’s parents. Some royal fans attacked the yoga instructor for having to leave Markle behind so that she could work when Middleton’s parents didn’t have to send the Duchess of Cambridge elsewhere.

One royal fan said that Ragland cannot be compared to the likes of Michael and Carole Middleton because their status in life and background are very different from one another.
