Meghan Markle reportedly made a huge mistake when she joined the royal family.

On the podcast “Heir Pod,” royal commentator Omid Scobie said that it was the Duchess of Sussex’s mindset that caused her to lose it all.

Before marrying Prince Harry, Markle reportedly had unrealistic expectations of her role, and she also thought that her new position came with instant popularity.

Markle also thought that there would be a honeymoon period that comes with marrying into the royal family, which meant that she would be allowed to falter and make mistakes at times.

“I think that that was one of the key things, and I think that towards the end she felt she wasn't given that by the press or members of the royal family, by aides or courtiers within the households,” Scobie said.

The royal commentator also said that the royal family was also equally unprepared to have the former actress on board. They thought that Markle would be able to adapt to her new life and role very easily.

“I think everyone somehow had this level of expectation from her from the get-go that was perhaps somewhat unrealistic, and perhaps she herself had some unrealistic expectations from the role too,” he said.

Prince Harry and Markle announced their decision to step back from their royal duties last week. But after a crisis talk with Queen Elizabeth, it was announced that they will be completely stripped off their royal tiles and other benefits.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still in a transition period and all of the changes will take into effect in the spring. At present, the royal couple is in Canada with their 8-month-old son, Archie.

Markle flew back to Canada shortly after she returned to London from her six-week break. However, Prince Harry only joined his wife and son this week. The Sussexes will continue to live in London, but they will also spend a lot of time in Canada.
