Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have amplified the popularity of the royal family the way Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson did.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step down from their royal duties in January. They carried out their final engagement in March and moved to the U.S.

According to royal author Nigel Cawthorne, Prince Charles “foresaw considerable” issues for Markle in the Firm. The Prince of Wales appreciated Markle for being a strong woman. However, he feared that there was no more room for her in that area.

“I think he [Prince Charles] likes strong women, but in The Firm there is only room for one Queen,” Cawthorne told Fabulous.

“I think he foresaw considerable problems ahead for The Firm. Harry and Meghan amplified the popularity of the royal family in the way that Prince Andrew and Fergie did at the time. However, for the sake of The Firm he will feel this outcome is better that the monarchy is small in size rather than a constellation of stars in separate orbits.”

Nigel added that the heir apparent made genuine effort to support the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. He offered them moral support. Also, the expert believes that the future king “regrets the fact that he won’t see his son and family as much as he otherwise would have.”

Meanwhile, Lady Colin Campbell claimed that the duchess has political ambitions. Markle is allegedly considering running for the highest office.

“'I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I've been told that one day she wants to run for President,” Campbell told FEMAIL.

“I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her.”

Campbell also claimed that Markle dropped warning signs about her unhappiness with the royal family early on, just days after her royal wedding to Prince Harry. An insider told the “Diana in Private” author that Markle did something that “astonished” a person at the event with “impeccable palace connections.”

“We were all absolutely gobsmacked and astonished, we all thought this doesn't bode well. It was not a good harbinger, we were all hoping against hope the information was wrong, but of course it was accurate,” Campbell said.
