  • A new book claims that the conflict about Meghan Markle's tiara in May 2018 wasn't between the bride and Queen Elizabeth
  • Prince Harry reportedly felt that the Queen's dresser was dawdling in helping Markle get her chosen headgear
  • Tabloids previously reported that the Queen declined Markle's first choice of tiara

Queen Elizabeth II did not have an issue with Meghan Markle's choice of tiaras for her royal wedding with Prince Harry contrary to tabloid reports, a new book said. Instead, the problem was reportedly between the Duke of Sussex and the monarch’s dresser, Angela Kelly.

Royal correspondents Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand shared details about the months leading up to the Sussexes’ highly anticipated 2018 royal wedding in their controversial tell-all, “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.”

An excerpt from the book that People published revealed that Prince Harry was frustrated when dealing with Kelly. The then-groom-to-be felt that the Queen’s longtime dresser was dawdling in helping Markle get the tiara she wanted for a hair trial ahead of their May 2018 nuptials.

The book stated, however, that the rehearsal went smoothly as the monarch had no problems with it.

This account contradicts previous tabloid articles that claimed the monarch declined Markle’s first tiara choice. One of these was The Sun’s November 2018 report, which claimed that the Queen reprimanded Prince Harry “over Meghan Markle’s behavior and attitude before their wedding following a row over the bride’s tiara.”

At the time, the tabloid’s sources said that the former “Suits” star allegedly wanted a tiara that had emeralds. She and Prince Harry were apparently saddened to know that their request was denied “as no one knew exactly where it came from,” the report said.

Markle wore a diamond and platinum crown on her big day despite Prince Harry allegedly telling staff, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”

The British outlet went on to claim that there was a “heated exchange” that saw the Queen allegedly telling her grandson that Markle couldn’t have anything she wanted and that she can only wear the tiara that the monarch will give to her. Her Royal Majesty also reportedly asked why there was a need for the celebrity to wear a veil for her wedding when “it was to be her second wedding,” The Sun claimed.

“The message from the Queen was very much Meghan needed to think about how she speaks to staff members and be careful to follow family protocols,” the insider claimed.

A representative of the Sussexes has stated that neither of the royal pair was interviewed or contributed to the making of “Finding Freedom.”
