KEY POINTS

  • Meghan Markle did not want to be part of the royal way of life
  • The Duchess of Sussex also wanted to have her own rules
  • Markle should have continued her royal duties and promoted equality

Meghan Markle was not into the royal life and wanted her own rules, according to a source.

Rose Adkins Hulse, a former Californian figure skater who married aristocrat George Hulse in 2017, weighed in on Megxit. She believes that Markle made a big mistake with her decisions after joining the royal family.

"I think she made a big mistake," she recently told Tatler.

"I don’t think she was willing to be a part of that [Royal] way of life, she wanted to make her own rules and that is sad."

Hulse also disapproved of Markle's decision to leave the royal life to return to showbiz citing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's deal with Netflix. She said that it would be more worthwhile if the former "Suits" star stuck with her royal duties to promote equality.

"As a role model, Meghan could teach that all people are the same... no matter their color. That was a very powerful thing being part of the Royal Family. Instead, she went back to California to do a deal with Netflix," she added.

Prince Harry and Markle announced earlier this year that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family. The royal couple flew to the United States after they carried out their last official royal engagement.

After the Sussexes’ discussion with the senior royals about their future plans, Queen Elizabeth II released a statement on how the royal family would continue to support Prince Harry and Markle. Her Majesty also praised their charity works and recognized how fast Markle was able to adapt to the royal life.

"I want to thank [Prince Harry and Meghan Markle] for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family," Queen Elizabeth II said.

Meanwhile, just recently, Prince Harry and Markle got flak for their Remembrance Sunday tribute. The Duke of Sussex allegedly asked the palace to lay a wreath on his and his wife Markle’s behalf but it was denied. So, they visited a cemetery in Los Angeles to commemorate the event. However, many didn’t like it because they took a photographer with them to document their visit.
