Thomas Markle Sr. is a name that many remember. Meghan's father made the headlines for all the wrong reasons before her daughter's wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

He is fondly remembered for intentionally posing for tabloids and leaking opinions of Prince Harry's views on live TV. While it seemed that Markle Sr. wasn't intent on keeping his mouth shut, he seems to have lay low on the rhetoric.

It isn't clear if he's deliberately keeping quiet on purpose. Another reason for his absence could be that he's now less relevant than before.

Ere the fallout, Sr.'s comments were undoubtedly not helping his daughter in adjusting as a new member of the royal family. In fairness to the whole debacle, Thomas did say that his statements were made in self-defense.

He hated the way he was depicted in Meghan Markle's Lifetime biopic, and Sr. just wanted to set the record straight. It's agreeable that Thomas acted immaturely in many situations, but is he that bad?

Before the whole royal family fiasco, Thomas Markle Sr. and the former Suits actress were very close. Sr. sent Meghan to a private, all-girls school when he won $750,000 in the California lottery in 1990.

If you are updated in Meghan's blog, she frequently writes about the time she spends with her father. When she was a toddler, Sr. used to bring her to his sets (Thomas worked as a lighting director on TV shows) and credits him for her strong work ethic.

For the better part of this year, Markle Sr. has stayed out of the headlines. The Duchess of Sussex did write him a letter begging him to stop talking to the media. He seems to have heeded the advice and carried on with his life.

He did comment on the photos of his grandson, Archie. Sadly, though, he wasn't around the affair and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland was present for the photographs.

He said that he "would have enjoyed being there for the blessing, wishing Archie and his parents' health and happiness." In totality, Thomas seems to be a good guy. It was just lousy publicity that destroyed his image or his innocence on the dynamics of the royal family.

There is a chance, though, that both will mend past issues and move on. Impressively Sr. seems like he's more wary of his words with the press. Perhaps, in time, they will be able to salvage their relationship and start in a fresh note.
