After Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in 2018, reports claimed the Duchess of Sussex was feuding with Kate Middleton. Due to the rumored tension between the women, reports went on to allege there was a rift in the brothers’ relationship.

Following speculation that the alleged feud between the couples had been reignited, one royal commentator believes the women were never at odds with one another.

According to Express UK, E! News royal correspondent, Melanie Bromley claimed rift rumors may never end due to outdated double standards.

“I have a theory on this. I think this is a made-up feud, which plays into old sexist theories that women cannot get along with each other, and that they have to be competitive with each other. Why can’t we see this as to women supporting each other,” she said.

“They have so much more in common than they have supposed differences. Think about it, they’re both mothers to young children. They are both married to men with really weird strange unusually lifetime jobs,” the royal expert added.

After Meghan joined the royal family, reports claimed her friendship with Kate turned into a competitive relationship. However, Bromley suggested the public is responsible for keeping the “feud” rumors alive.

“There is so much speculation about Kate and Meghan’s relationship. Even Instagram posts are being scrutinized. Look at this post, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge put on Instagram to celebrate Meghan’s birthday, good wishes, happiness, it’s all good,” she explained.

“The haters even criticized this. Asking why they posted a picture with Kate in the middle, rather than posting a solo shot of Meghan. There honestly seems no way to make these pro-feud people happy.”

The palace previously announced the decision to split up the couples’ joint charity, but royal insiders denied claims that a feud caused the divide. Sources insisted the split was “largely about preparing both couples for their future roles, which are obviously on divergent tracks.”

Although there is still speculation about the alleged feud, Meghan, Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate continue to come together, and put on a united front during public outings together.
