Spice Girl and television host Mel B has reportedly agreed to an out-of-court settlement to stop her former nanny Lorraine Gilles’ defamation case.

The singer previously made claims against Gilles amid her divorce from ex-husband Stephen Belafonte. The Daily Mirror reports, via MSN, the settlement cost the singer £1.8 million (roughly $2 million USD).

“Mel was just happy to clear this mess up once and for all,” a source told the newspaper. “Things were said in court papers in the heat of a divorce, which exploded into this lawsuit. But in recent weeks their frost has thawed, with them even meeting in the same room to work out their differences.”

In divorce papers, the 43-year-old singer called Gilles a "prostitute" on top of alleging that she, the nanny, and Belafonte had threesomes together. Mel B also said Gilles was impregnated at one point by Belafonte. Both Belafonte and Gilles denied the allegations.

Mel B married Belafonte on June 6, 2007, after a few months of dating. After 10 years together, Mel B filed for divorce. At the time, she accused him of domestic violence as well as forcing her to have sex with him and other women. Belafonte’s lawyer told TMZ in 2017 that the allegations were “outrageous and unfounded.”

“So, I forced her to have threesomes? OK. You know what my comment to this is actually because that is the mother of my children, I really really really am really distraught in my brain at how this is going to affect our children,” Belafonte told The Sun. “In the depths that she’s gone to, that’s it. I’m really shocked at those allegations and that’s what it is.”
