Melania Trump could pay tribute to Princess Diana when she visits India.

The president and first lady of the United States are set to make a state visit to India later this month. Years ago, Prince Charles and Princess Diana also visited the country.

Melania could give a nod to the late Princess of Wales by taking a picture at the famous “Diana bench.” In 1992, when Prince William and Prince Harry’s parents visited the Asian country, Princess Diana was photographed sitting on a bench on Taj Mahal premises sans the Prince of Wales, IndiaToday.in reported.

The bench was not an integral part of Taj Mahal and was installed by Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of British India when he removed the wooden benches on the platform of the central tank and replaced them with the four Mughal-style marble benches.

The bench where Princess Diana sat was later called “Diana bench,” and since then, there has not been any head of state who has skipped a photo op on the same bench when visiting the monument with the Taj Mahal in the backdrop. Thus, Melania might do the same.

“US President Donald Trump may wish to get his picture taken with his wife sitting on this bench, as a memory,” an ASI employee told IndiaToday.in.

The people in the premises have been preparing for the possibility of Melania taking a photo there. In fact, the central tank’s water has already been emptied and the tank has been cleaned. Also, the tank was painted blue from the inside so the water appears clean and blue. The Cypress trees around the tank were also trimmed and the surroundings were adorned ahead President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit.

Meanwhile, Trump and Melania have been warned of potential monkey attacks because there are a lot of monkeys and stray animals near Taj Mahal. In fact, a few weeks back, a stray cow injured a Danish tourist only identified as Niels when it lifted him on its horn and threw him in the air leaving him seriously injured.

Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner will also be joining the delegates in the state visit. However, Twitter users slammed the first daughter because for them, her presence is not necessary in the visit.
