Former bike racing champion Melissa Giove, also known as Missy, was arrested earlier this week for possession of hundreds of pounds of marijuana and is in custody today, the Associated Press reports.

She and 30-year old Eric Canori were arrested and charged Tuesday for possessing and distributing more than 100 kilograms of marijuana. They face up to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine if convicted.

Authorities found 150 pounds of marijuana and more than $1 million in cash were in Canori's house, The DEA said according to the news agency.

Missy Giove retired from downhill racing in 2003. She won the downhill world championship in 1994.
