Michelle and Barack Obama seem to be handling their parental roles pretty well. The former first lady has opened up on how she and her husband deal with their daughters' dating lives.

The couple shares two daughters – Malia Obama, 24, and Sasha Obama, 21.

"I think it's wonderful," Michelle said about their daughters' dating life during an interview with "Good Morning America" on Sunday. "I want them to know what they want and who they are in a relationship. And that takes trying on some people."

Michelle said Barack "is good with it [dating]." She went on to explain how Barack has learned over the period of time to be a concerned, but not a crazy father.

"Look, they are 24 and 21. They were in high school. They went to prom," she recalled about their daughters. "They've lived life. And he's learned how to be a concerned Black father, but not crazy."

The mother of two is "proud" of her daughters, who grew up in the spotlight when Barack was president from 2009 to 2017.

"They're doing great. Proud of them. They survived eight years growing up in one of the harshest spotlights there is," Michelle said. "And they are good, decent, normal young women who are trying to be impactful in the world, and they are the best of friends. Couldn't ask for anything else."

Michelle also shared the current situation of their house since the girls moved out.

"So, it's usually me and him across the table, Sunny [the dog] under the table, looking at each other, trying to hold off on talking so that we have something to talk about at dinner," she added.

Michelle also recalled visiting her daughters once in their new place and how they hosted her and Barack.

"They had prepared a charcuterie tray and tried to make two very weak martinis," she added. "They realized they didn't have any of the ingredients, but they were trying to, they were hosting us. And it's just fun, watching them become themselves."

On the work front, Michelle's new book, titled "The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times," is slated to release Tuesday.
